We acquired our pedigree beagle a little over a year ago, for free, from an owner on craigslist. We had lost our long time companion due to illness, and our youngest child was after us to get a new dog.....so the search began, and then ended up close to home from a posting on craigslist. He was just about 2 yrs old, and we found that we were to be his 4th home in 2 yrs.....the 1st family was military family that moved and could not take him along. His name back then was "Pal"; we understand the name of a children's book character. Next, a lady in a very small condo had him for a few months, but went back to work and left the renamed doggie "cooped" up all day, so she looked for new owners. An elderly couple in
a seaside area of town took him in for about a month or so, but he is very energetic plus a flight risk (somewhat typical of beagles). He actually escaped in their care, but was found due to his implanted microchip. They, in turn, returned him to the lady in the small condo, who listed him on craigslist almost immediately, as she did not want herself or Cooper to get reattached. We actually acquired him very soon after she got him back, within a day or so. We have a large yard.....and I swear, when he saw his new running grounds for the first time, he had a pleased look, as if he was in "doggie heaven". It's been over a year now, and he has trained us well.....sleeping on our youngest bed, taken for walks just because he does the "cute look", and eating specialized foods twice a day due to a wheat allergy. He can be a loud barker, but we have gotten used to it. He's a load of fun.....we love to play and tease with him......plus wouldn't trade him for the world, never mind a posting on craigslist.

Cooper is a lucky dog to be in "doggie heaven."
